This section explains how to print a file from the Print menu of an application software.
The print setup items that you can set from the Print menu of an application software differs depending on the application software.
If a setup item cannot be specified from the Print menu, you can specify the item by using the lpoptions command or the CUPS Web interface to change the default value.
Depending on which application software you use, you may need to specify the following print command and the PPD file. For details about the print options that can be specified with the print command, see the "Printing from a Terminal Software."
Print command
When "MB5300USB" is specified as the registered printer name
lpr -P MB5300USB
PPD file
/usr/share/cups/model/canonmb5300.ppd
When you print from an application software, the following methods of specifying print options are available: - Specify the PPD file, and select the functions that can be set for the specific printer. - Use the printer management functions and the default settings that were specified with the CUPS Web interface. The specification procedure differs according to the application software. For details, see the user's manual for your application software.
When you execute borderless printing from an application software, select a paper size that shows "(borderless)." |
Printer name to be selected when printing from an application software
Sometimes the displayed printer list includes "MB5300-series" and "MB5300-series-FAX", which are registered automatically when the printer is connected. If these printers are selected, printing cannot be performed correctly.
When specifying the printer settings, always select the "registered printer name" that was specified at installation.
